Two golfers, cart mates are playing their usual round. Fred was having a tough day with his driver. He was slicing everything. Dave had been driving the ball straight as an arrow. Fred was as usual way to the right in fact his drive was lying on a concrete cart path behind a hedge of bushes. Dave said, leave me at my ball with a club and take the cart. “I think you’ll soon be one down”
Fred takes off and gets to his ball and it was indeed lying on the cart path. Knowing he could take relief he decided against it as he had an opening to the green. He takes a 6 iron and takes a mighty swing and there were sparks flying and a terrible grinding sound. The ball flies through the opening and lands 10 feet from the pin.
He drives back to Dave to pick him up in the cart. Dave says” that was an incredible shot, what did you use, your six iron. You probably ruined it.”
“Nah,” said Fred “my six iron’s fine.”
“How can that be,” asked Dave? “I heard a terrible sound over there”
“Used yours!”
